Chapter 3: Page 80
Hey, remember Deltrada? I don’t blame you if you don’t, but let’s be honest, how hard is it to remember something that we last saw *checks notes* 1,218 days ago.
… Oh.
Man, I need to update these notes.
I only ask because some of our readers with particularly long memories may remember a certain lady canid from earlier in the story who has returned to the fold!
I guess now we know why she was so adamant to check in on the Deltrada aviary! She’s actually the canid in charge of it! Now it all makes sense, I think!
For guest art this week, a really fun piece to mark the start of the new year from RM Fung!
In RM’s own words: “Here is a snapshot of Nessa in the far future celebrating the coming of a new year. People of all races from all across Dunia living in the city have gathered at the heart to watch some dancers performing on stage to everyone’s delight. Even among the sounds and colorful lights of the Vulpin capital’s festivities, everyone remembers that sharing the joy is not merely exclusive to Navran, but nations everywhere within Dunia and beyond. The presence of everyone in their unique shapes and sizes is a testament to that belief and will remain so for generations to come.”
I sure hope so, RM! It certainly is nice to see a possible future where everyone’s getting along. I guess we’ll have to see how this story ends :)
I hope all of our readers are having a fantastic 2019, and we’ll catch you all next week!
I have a question that’s a little off-topic for this page, but I was wondering where “Tamian” came from. The names of the rest of the races either come from the genus or the regular species name like the Ermehn and the Polcan, and “Sciuris” doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. So I was wondering how you guys came up with “Tamian” for the squirrels!
It’s actually a play on the genus of the pine squirrel: Tamiasciurus! Bonus background lore: “Tesque” is a play on the “T” and “Sc” sounds from the full name :)
Ah, Lady Canid runs the aviary! That makes a great deal of sense indeed.
Love the look of this page, and the fanart.
Yay Lady Canid returns and so do I! Sorry for my absence from the chat for a few months.Been Busy Busy Busy. Glad to see the comic still going strong. Keep up the good work Alex and Rachel!
Hooray, Lady Canid!
And hooray, using birds as messengers! I’m all for that!
Wouldn’t have predicted I’d be this happy to see the action shift back to Deltrada, but this page nails it! Can’t wait to see what happens next!
I only just belatedly realized that that canid drill instructor does, in fact, seem to be a drill instructor, putting new recruits through their paces. Somehow I’d expected Deltrada to be on more of an all-out war footing, rather than having routine basic training still going on. But then, if Aisling is gearing up for all-out war, I suppose that includes training as many new soldiers as quickly as you can … and where better to train than Deltrada?
The raven doth wisper it’s tidings into her ear but alas, she does not understand. What’s the bet the message just says “nevermore”?
Deltarda is all tidied up. Are those two guys surreptitiously moving a coffin around the corner of the fort and out of sight?
Well well, long time no see, Lady Canid. If there’s a fancy scroll with a seal on it, it’s gotta be an official decree. From Arklow, maybe?
That Canid commanding the rookies looks really fierce and revved up to go. I guess having to pick up the pieces from your general’s -one of your nation’s leaders- death will do that to you.
Love the fan art. Really lets us get a glimpse of your universe being something more than a medieval fantasy.
Bracing myself for the next page…
Also, that is some extremely impressive fanart!
I love that the thumbnail simply says “maggots” xD
