Chapter 3: Page 82
LOOK WHO’S BACK!
You remember General Tosch, don’t you? This is all a big canid reunion, isn’t it? But let’s be honest, once we returned to Deltrada, you must’ve known we’d be seeing his poofy mug again. He doesn’t look particularly happy, but I don’t suppose he has any reason to be. He’s got a bunch of new recruits, sure–but having his brother killed, the murderers escaping, and then Quin and Dak breaking out of the garrison’s prison can’t be doing much for his ego.
So, this is going to be a pretty short post this week, since I’m on a business trip down in California and currently sitting in a recording studio working on some upcoming Guild Wars 2 VO. Some really exciting stuff coming down the pipe for that!
For guest art this week, a really fun piece of a character we haven’t seen for a little while: Asha!
This piece was done by the wonderful Olaffson, whose work you might remember from a great Bevan piece done a while back–another cool ermehn character!
I love seeing these characters in your style, Olaffson! And it’s really nice seeing Asha again after a pretty extended absence :)
READ ME IT.
Poofy-Tosch-Tosch returns. It’s been far too … not long enough, actually. Bad doggie! *whaps the wolf-pup with a rolled up copy of the Sunsgrove Sun for putting out a hit on Janik & Co*
Also, that guest art looks miiiiighty familiar … and just as spectacular as ever! Great work!
Lovely guest art!
Two hair related observations:
1) I like that, to convey wind, not only are the cloaks billowing out but also Sigrid’s face hair.
2) Tosch must have to spend a lot of his morning brushing to maintain that level of symmetrically neat bouffant-ness.
Hey! General Neck-Floof has returned to grace us with his presence. Good thing I brought my lint brush to pick all the fur of me, which comes with being in his presence. Oh, and good fanart from Olaffson! I remember finding him through the first piece of art he did for the comic. Keep up the great work everyone!
Aww, that General is so fluffy, looks so adorable. He is also very cool, i wonder how he will take the news. XD
Also Olaffsons work is awesome.
At first I thought the message said Black Twine, and it was supposed to be a secret codeword, but that Tosch was literally too dumb to understand it without having it spelled out.
But then that gets me thinking: how do they make sure their messages aren’t intercepted? What if one of the birds gets caught in bad weather, or has an unfortunate encounter with a hawk or something?
I think the messages themselves are coded, and the color of the twine just marks the urgency/importance of it.
All Canid communiques are rendered proof against prying eyes by dint of being written entirely in Glaswegian rhyming slang.
“Read it to me I’m too busy standing still and making a grumpy face”
A question that’s a bit off-topic here. After following your amazing work for a while, I just cannot imagine BWD being done by anyone else other than Alex + Rachel. But how did you two come across each other in the first place? Were you already friends before “The Four Kingdoms”?
“I’m not fat, I’m fluffy!”
-General Gabriel Tosch
Puffy murder – canids and Cheetahs are disgusting verminous murderes, I know something about that.
Btw,. You should check some time soon discord Jakub. There is another person from Poland there, and lives near Cracow :)
Tosch has done well for himself for not being able to read.
This is amazing! I’m sure Tosch will be quite displeased with these news Sigrid has, (not so) poor Canid will have a heart attack one day of these!
I just discovered BtWD and in matter of a week have read it all ahah! still, it is an amazing comic and I can’t wait for tomorrow’s page!
Tosch is… terrifying.
Grumpy doggie!
