Chapter 3: Page 91
Reassigned? Was it something she said? What on earth could it have been?
Heck, you know what? Maybe Tosch is just extending Sigrid an opportunity to improve her skill set? Maybe he wants to spread his resources around so they can provide him the best possible outcome over a larger area?
Maybe Tosch has a good reason! We don’t know. I sure don’t. I’m just the guy who writes this stuff.
So, we’ve had a bunch of folks getting their Kickstarter pledge merchandise and posting pictures of it on Twitter! It’s been the culmination of nearly a year’s-worth of work, seeing the physical merchandise actually arrive in people’s homes for their enjoyment. It’s a surreal feeling every time you release something new–I’m used to feeling it with the games I work on, but the tangibility of a real book, print, or pin is something else entirely. To see something I helped construct turn into a real, physical item that then appears in somebody else’s hands is actually kind of magical.
I love everything that we’ve produced for this Kickstarter. Every print, the pins, the bookplate, the bookmark, and of course both variants of the book itself. I’m really proud of what we ended up with, and it just has me more excited for future Kickstarters and books. There will absolutely be a Kickstarter for a Volume 2 hardcover, and we’re already thinking about what that will be.
Thank you EVERYONE for all of your help and support–and even if you weren’t able to back it, we deeply appreciate your presence here on the website. We may create the comic, but it was you all who helped make it a physical reality.
Also, here’s my weekly reminded to VOTE in this year’s Ringo Awards–especially if you want to help Beyond the Western Deep in the Best Webcomic category!
Head over to bit.ly/ringos2019 and vote for your favorite comics of 2018! The Ringo Awards are held every year at Baltimore Comic Con, and readers like you can help shape the nominations!
Thank you all once again for your incredible support, and see you next week!
I’m looking forward to Sigrid’s next appearance in the comic as we watch her peel 20,000 potatoes for insubordination.
Also; Received the book this week. The whole package was very professional and slick. The little Quinlan and Dakkan badges especially are pleasingly sturdy. Thank you muchly.
I bet this will be the start of a character arc for Sigrid where we watch her question her orders as her loyalty is put to the test
“I sure don’t [know]. I’m just the guy who writes this stuff.” Cheeky.
Woo new page and it seems the war will be constrained to the Eremhn, the Canid and Sunsgrove, if I am interpreting what Tosch said correctly. So looks like we are avoiding a world war for now. But only time will tell.
Dude why can’t people just get along
Here it is. “Cenolau agreeable” has been bugging me for weeks now, and we finally know what it means: “Nobody in Cenolau particularly wants to get stabbed to death or have their city burned to the ground.”
Come to think of it, this might be why it wasn’t all that hard for the canid guards to shuffle Janik and Mitra off to an alley to be executed, and even in the ensuing fight when Beck and Rook showed up, it didn’t seem like anybody really noticed. At the time I assumed that we just weren’t seeing any reactions by the time there was anything worth reacting to, and to be honest that’s probably still the case either way. Still, the idea that Cenolau may have already been under the canid’s thumbs at the time just makes it seem even more impressive that they got out of that situation alive.
(Whether they actually got out of the city alive remains to be seen, but I’m betting they did because losing a main character and three beloved supporting characters between chapters would be too big a downer even for this comic.)
