Kept you waiting, huh? Sorry about that! It’s been one heck of a 2024 so far, between the Kickstarter fulfillment, a wedding, and international business-related travel and… you know what? You’ve all been patient enough with us, so we’ll get right into it!

We’re beyond excited to be returning to a regular update cadence–however, to make sure we’re setting ourselves up for long-term success, pages will be released BI-WEEKLY (every 2 weeks) starting today.

Back in January I’d expressed a fair degree of excitement over Western Deep’s potential in 2024. While the first half of the year wound up with a lot of personal/professional obligations taking precedent, a fair degree of effort still went into Western Deep-related projects.

War of the Western Deep, our hand-animated swashbuckling adventure (with sword duels!) is finally coming out of its nascent concept phase. You can WISHLIST the game on Steam right now, for example:

The demo we’ve been working on for the last couple years will be playable by the public for the very first time at the inaugural Adventure Game Fan Fair in Tacoma, WA on July 26th-28th.

The AGFF is the very first adventure game-focused video game convention in the US, similar to the popular AdventureX in the UK. Headlined by several classic Sierra adventure game developers from the 80’s and 90’s (the first reunion of its kind!), the AGFF is primed to become a yearly staple. We couldn’t be more excited to have War of the Western Deep as one of the chosen game demos presented there!

We’ll also be bringing the demo to the largest video game convention in the United States: PAX West.

We’ll have our own booth on the expo hall floor, and once we’ve got the official map layout we’ll post that along with a page update.

We know it’s been a long road waiting for pages to resume, and for all of our readers new and old, we deeply appreciate your patience and support. Remember that you can follow us on Twitter/X @TheWesternDeep and on BlueSky @WesternDeep.bsky.social!
