Song of the Eastern Sands: Page 32
The chase is on! And it seems our Ermehn Sand Spider has taken it upon herself to stop the assassin. Cue the cool chase music! Even with an injured leg, that Canid killer is making some serious tracks!
Jerome and I love good ol’ on-foot chase sequences. There’s an extended one in Uncharted 3, specifically, that led to my desire to have a chase scene here. The Assassin’s Creed series has had some good chases, too (though they’re usually hampered by squirrely controls) — and in the realm of movies, the market chase in Ong Bak might still be among my favorite foot chases captured on film.
The opening of District 13, the chase in Casino Royale, these are some good chases, too! Any in particular you can think of that you particularly enjoyed?
For guest art this week, I wanted to share this fun little sketch comic that Jerijune did visualizing a scene from The Mark, the Beck and Rook-focused hiatus story I wrote a few months ago!
I know the quality isn’t the best, but that’s probably because Jerijune never anticipated I’d post this up on the website! But I love it too much to NOT post it up. The little details crack me up (like the mirror shattering on the sight of Beck’s grin — also, pun very much intended).
Thanks for the fun little comic, Jerijune! I really love it!

Now that I have fulfilled my chase scene music obligation, I turn to the page. I’m quite looking forward to seeing where this leads. After all, they have the cash and we’re planning on leaving anyway, but I doubt any of them expected to make their exit in quite this way. Let’s also keep in mind that they are outside now, where they can be seen. Not good Perhaps Mr. Candi assassin will run smack into Janik, coming back to grab some documents she left on her desk? Only time will tell.
I’m surprised that these little gang of thieves seriously do have vigilante hearts. I dont think any normal thief will go after some assassin who just happen to barge in into their little caper, especially dangerous ones. Go Asha!
Jerijune I just…love the way you drew Rook’s expression on the 4th panel. He has the perfect, concerned stoic face for delivering such a line.
Parkour! Woo! They may be thieves, but their hearts are in the right place!
I never expected that comic to make it here! That was actually a friend’s request! He reads BWD but he doesn’t comment, though.
A pity he doesn’t comment. It’s kinda quiet in here.
It is a really cool drawing, man! The small mirror was really great detail.
This is one amazing set of fast-paced scenes. The suspense on what will happen next is exciting.
The soundtrack by Solar Winds starts up
Noo don’t chase after him, that’s the worst idea! What if you catch him?
Then he’s “it” and has to chase her.
Unless of course it’s “no tags backsies” in which case he’ll have to chase someone else.
Wow, that Ong Bak guy is definitely a rabbit. Those jumps!
Go Asha!
GO ASHA!!!!!!!
OH SAGA!!!!!!!!
And here we go again with Beck giving orders and getting an instant response. I’m still not sure she’s in charge, per se but they’re at least listening.
Parkour time, off we go. I like the contrast between the panel layout and the movements of the characters
