The Abyssal Dunes: Page 27
Short update this week by virtue of it being close to the holidays and workthings colliding with partythings! In a way, it’s a lot like Yurk finding a really valuable whatsit while trapped in an ancient and potentially dangerous catacomb! There’s a bit of that “work” in the whole survival element, but then the celebration of finding something valuable!
Yes, I know. I’m grasping at straws here.
Some cool Western Deep news! In the latest issue of Wireframe Magazine, Abyssal Dunes artist Jerome Jacinto was interviewed along with several game developers from titles like Armello, Tooth and Tail, and Ghost of a Tale (all of which feature Jerome’s wonderful artwork and some words of varying quantity by yours truly!) to chat about taking inspiration from the venerable Redwall book series.
You can download a free PDF of the magazine by following this link and clicking “Download Free PDF!”
In the issue, a fantastic piece of Rook from Song of the Eastern Sands and Western Deep Chapter 3 is featured, with a nice little callout to Beyond the Western Deep, which of course is also heavily inspired by Redwall. It was absolutely an honor to have our comic mentioned in the same article as these amazing interactive titles, and of course Redwall itself.
See you all next week!
And Yurk holds up … something. Let’s hope Alex and Rachel aren’t so busy with their holiday partythings that we must wait more than one week to find out just exactly what it is!
And, is there anything that’s NOT inspired by Redwall? I’m starting to think not.
I’m always equally baffled and pleased that Redwall somehow found a readership outside the UK. Not least because How Does Anyone Not From Here Understand The Moles!?
Boi sayin’ thur lines out loud!

Golden bones, the most rare kind in all of bonedom!
Got a weird question for Rachel. I found a cool inktober post on your tumblr, and you mentioned it was development for a short comic. Just wondering if ya had any more art from that, it was super cool! Rolf is my favorite. ;)
Here is the post I was talking about: https://kobbers.tumblr.com/post/153583356386/the-primary-prompt-i-gave-myself-for-inktober-was#notes
