Chapter 4: Page 110
Treewalker hunts are no easygoing affair. Just finding the treewalker can be troublesome and time-consuming, but once the beast starts moving through the trees, the action ramps up by about a thousand percent.
Tamian scouts are required to not only keep up with the beast, but rely on a trio of special roles to overpower and fell it.

Most treewalker hunts employ a number of carvers, archers, and trappers to whittle the beast’s stamina down, slowly chipping away at its armor over the course of several hours if need be.
In the case of this page, the treewalker has been half-blinded, giving the unnaturally small scouting crew a small (very small) chance to take down a beast this size. Carvers work to get their specially curved blades under the treewalker’s brittle carapace, cracking it open like a lobster.
Teams of trappers use their grappling hooks to quickly improvise net traps that can either slow or divert treewalkers towards a more optimal hunting area.
And of course the archers use their arrows for all sorts of things during the hunt–whether it’s to distract the treewalker, deal small amounts of progressive damage (classic DPS build here!), or make a bold attempt to land a shot in its eyes or an exposed weak spot, their arrows carry many different responsibilities.
But of course, as we can see, even with the most trained treewalker hunters, it’s still incredibly dangerous!

Oh yeah Crim, real helpful there! Got any other advice?
Look for a glowing sigil and stab it until it fades! You might not have an ancient magic sword but it’s better than nothing!
And after you kill it, don’t forget to run away in terror while spamming the Call Horse button in a futile attempt to avoid the curse!
I know that, of the creators, at least Rachel really likes Monster Hunter. I commend your self restraint for holding off on a monster chase sequence for this long.
Damn, dropped his sword! Too bad they don’t have a flamethrower. ;)
SMH, Ki-Adi Mundi is very disapointed in them.
Hey Alex ,hey Rachel, hey Jerome can I may ask you about something ,please? How many years Era of Reason lasted?
Is the Western deep being worked on anymore?
HAPPY AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY! For those who don’t celebrate it, happy day anyway!
You guys alive, dead or on vacation…lol
Just wondering. Been a while since any updates.
So it’s been like 5 months since the comic was updated, is it still alive or has it finally run out of steam? Release schedule was always a little slow but this is a bit much.
It’s been five months since you’ve posted a new page. Are you coming back soon? We miss you.
It’s been quite a while since the last update. I hope everything’s okay with you guys.
The announcement was easy to miss, but they are taking a pause on the comic to finish up work on the video game
All caught up with the comic again :) hope you guys are staying safe out there ^^ take all the time you need, I can just reread the intermission stories while I wait. Doing an amazing job <3
Hi everyone! Alex here. Just wanted to drop a line to let folks know that we are indeed still kicking! We still update the Twitter/X and BlueSky Western Deep accounts regularly with news, but we know that not everyone follows us there or actively uses social media. We’ll have a larger main post on new goings-on hopefully within the next few days.
Thanks for your continued support–we’re excited to continue telling stories in the world of Western Deep!
Take all the time you need! Love you guys’ work :3
Hey there! Been following you guys for a couple years now and I have to say that I love what you’ve done so far. A story in the style of Redwall on the scale of Lord of the Rings is something I can absolutely get into. Just jumped back in to see what was happening and I find that a Steam game adaptation is in the works! So awesome! Can’t wait to see the finished product! But I’m wondering when the next comic pages will be posted. Haven’t seen much movement on that front since March.
