Hello, everyone! We know it’s been quite a wait, so we’re thrilled to be able to share the next page of Beyond the Western Deep with all our wonderful readers. Crim is probably less than thrilled about the advancing action, but as we hoped to demonstrate all the way back in Chapter 1 when he and Quinlan sparred in Terria, he can hold his own!

So, what have we been up to since the last update in September? Quite a lot!

War of the Western Deep development continues apace, though Rachel and I still maintain our day jobs so we can pour all of our investment from Cervidian into things like animation, music, and of course voice acting.

However, now that Rachel’s insane Q4 job obligations are behind her (big box stores and the Black Friday-Christmas slam are still a very real thing!), she was excited to be able to spend some time on a new comic page while I worked on laying down track for our next PAX West show floor demo. Of course we’re excited about the prospect of more comic pages throughout the year, but we’re not planning on resuming a standard release schedule for pages just yet. War of the Western Deep, having a team of professional developers and creatives assisting, means things like scheduling tasks, voice over sessions, and deadlines to help keep things moving–and Rachel, being in charge of the entire visual language of the game, has a lot on her plate, just as I do in writing and designing it.

We have some really fun updates for the game we’ll be revealing in the coming weeks and months, and as time allows we’ll certainly be trying to sneak in more comic pages here and there!

In the meantime, here’s a fun tease as some of the new characters we’re exploring for War of the Western Deep that Mirren will run into during her adventures in the Border Coast region:

As always, you can follow us on social media for updates, on BlueSky, Twitter/X, Instagram, and even TikTok (though we’re still fairly new to that). See you next time–and hopefully it’s not as long to the next page as it was for this one. <3
