Hmm, sounds like Beck and Rook’s collective definition of what Mitra’s job as a ‘vulpin politician’ was is a little different than Janik’s perception! I suppose that would depend on what a vulpin “Trade Consul” actually does.

My guess is they just… consult… on trade. Nothing wrong with that, right?

Right?

Anyway, WOW, welcome back, everyone! I know it’s been a while since the last page–we’re all very sorry about that! As I’ve mentioned more than a few times in the past, we’ve always known that the holiday season, really ALL of Q3, takes the main story offline for a bit.

This time around things were a little rougher than usual, between the busier-than-ever holiday season and then Rachel getting the flu (not that flu, but still a flu!) and then needing to shake off the proverbial page rust.

BUT you know what happened during that downtime? We celebrated our TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY.

That’s right, the first chapter header ever was posted in December of 2021, and the first page was posted January 1st, 2012.

Crazy, I know! It’s been a long ride, and this last year’s been a pretty good one! Let’s go through the highlights:

In 2021, we:

  • Released 31 pages of Beyond the Western Deep!
  • Released the very first Western Deep adventure game, Wintersdawn in the Deep (available right here: https://westerndeep.itch.io/wintersdawn)!
  • Started development of the next Western Deep book, expected to collect Jerome’s Song of the Eastern Sands and Abyssal Dunes stories, in addition to maybe a surprise original story by Rachel herself!
  • Had two very successful conventions in Rose City and Emerald City!

We genuinely couldn’t have done ANY OF THIS without your continued support, and for that we are eternally grateful. We’re hoping that this marks the return of regular pages, but there may be a few stops and starts as things get back to normal.

You can keep up to date on everything going on in the world of the Western Deep by following us on Twitter (over there on the right)! Hope you had a wonderful holiday and New Year, and we’ll see you next week!
