Chapter 4: Page 58
Aha, see, that’s why you don’t linger around public waystations when you’ve got an entire army biting at your heels (in this case, possibly literally). But this is my favorite part of these suspenseful build-ups, when new variables are added and the tension rises even further.
“Don’t do anything stupid,” huh? I don’t know… Some of these characters seem exactly like the sorts who would do something like that.
Well, while everyone here is waiting for the next page of this tense standoff between our quartet of unlikely traveling companions and the canid army, maybe I can satiate your hunger for awesome new Western Deep-related content with this amazing piece of art done by friend of the comic: Temiree!
This was done as a birthday present for Rachel, and it was so amazing that we just had to share it with the rest of the community! Amazing work, Tem! We love your take on the world of Western Deep! :)
In other news, as folks here probably already know, my day job is at a studio called ArenaNet, where I work as a writer on the Guild Wars video game franchise. This Monday, the 28th, our third major expansion for Guild Wars 2 will be released to the public: END OF DRAGONS!
I had the opportunity to write alongside a team of several other incredible folks, and crafted several chapters of what we call “the golden path,” or main story campaign. I highly recommend checking it out if you’ve ever played GW2, and if you never have up to this point, well…the base game is free, so the only cost to check it out is your time (and hard drive space)! :)
I’m incredibly excited to be participating in a real honest-to-goodness video game release again, with some actual marketing muscle behind it to! For example, if you hit up a Carls Jr or Hardee’s in the next week or so, you might start to see these cups appearing:
I have been in the game development business for 14 years and I’ve never had a fast food chain make promo merchandise based on a game I worked on. It’s a small thing, but I love it :)
See you all next week!
The canid leader looks so jaded en bored.
“Why I’m here, leaning against this damned well, in this damned desert, hunting these damned fugitives? I should be in the Wastes, slaughtering ermehn!”
I guess the canid soldiers sent in the other kingdoms aren’t the best, and this can be disappointing, even humiliating, for them.
I think he’s worried for his career. While others are fighting and getting promotions, he’s stuck in this desert watching over some podunk rest stop.
That is funny when world around you, start be kinda BWD world actual reality…
And yeah. I didn’t exept today the spanish Inquisition, like in last Fat thuesday.
Odds that he’s bluffing? I mean, where could those snipers be hiding? And even if they’re real, will they be able to see as the sandstorm kicks up? Even so, dealing with two swords and a spear isn’t trivial unless the plan is to run away and not have any water.
In any case, I’m on the edge of my seat here. SUSPENSE!!
I don’t think they’re there to kill them. The Canid could have killed them already. why talk to them?
These are either new characters we’re meeting, or the Canid have other plans than killing them
The Canid probably want to take Janik hostage as leverage against her father. Lobby Navran and Sunsgrove to support Aisling…or else.
That’s actually a really good idea.
Quando ci sarà la metà del capitolo 4 pagine 59 al 199.
Dear Alex Kain
Please do not End Dragons. I’m going to need at least two over the next year or so for an RPG campaign.
If they have to end can you perhaps consider phasing them out over time or setting a few aside for legacy purposes?
Best regards
A Concerned Citizen
DEAR TREES,
THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONCERN. ALL DRAGON-RELATED CORRESPONDENCE HAS BEEN FORWARDED TO THE RELEVANT RECIPIENTS.
Seriously though, there’s a lot more to it than what’s in the title :)
