Chapter 4: Page 59
First, some good news!
Beyond the Western Deep is BACK ON COMIXOLOGY!
You can grab it RIGHT HERE: https://www.amazon.com/Beyond-Western-Deep-Vol-1-ebook/dp/B09V7ZZJ2Q
This is the DEFINITIVE E-BOOK VERSION of Beyond the Western Deep: Vol. 1 and is currently available exclusively through Amazon. And by “definitive” I mean “I personally went through and created a beat-by-beat guided view experience that in my opinion makes for a vastly more interesting and engaging experience than a standard PDF reader offers.”
Pretty cool stuff!
Please check it out, and remember to leave us reviews! Amazon’s algorithm does love its good reviews!
…also it would be nice to have the “official” version push the old Action Lab editions off the top of “Western Deep” search results! :)
Anyway, on to today’s page!
What was it I was saying before about this group seeming like exactly the sort of group that would do something stupid? I mean, Beck threw a potted plant at a canid soldier and the two leapt off a roof so they could strike intimidating hero poses–these aren’t exactly characters who think things through.
Of course, Beck and Rook are career criminals, so we can assume this probably isn’t the first time they’ve needed to employ this particular tactic. To what end? Well–I suppose we’ll have to see!
We hope you have a lovely weekend, and don’t forget to check out our brand new Kindle e-book! Volume 2 will be coming along soon as well, so keep an eye here and on our Twitter feed for more info.
Pfff. I am not suprised that Polcans are so backward and hopeless pathetic race, if they still made and using Bronze Weapon and armory. That is why we Luterns are kings of the sea and better race in any way. Rook had more lucky than brain. But exept all those important matters betwen our races, I am glad that he is alive. Only one good cool Polcan in this comic.
It looks like that ‘primitive’ bronze armor saved his life. ;) or maybe he IS just lucky. On another note, I love the dynamic ostrich action on this page. Very exciting
“DYNAMIC OSTRICH ACTION… VERY EXCITING!!!”
If Rachel and Alex ever decide to start adding review quotes to the covers of the printed books they know where to start looking.
I think that in this case there is 50-50% of Lucky and kind of protecting of this primitive armament, because if this bolt will hit him just little lower or under a different angle, he will be dead, like many other all polcans supposed to be.
actually bronze was really good for armor as it was more likely to bend, absorbing the impact of the blow. iron was better for weapons for the opposite reason. Its only when reliable steel production came along that both were outclassed.
In this case i agree that its 50-50, the little breastplate did protect his vitals as it was meant to but he was lucky they were aiming at a place it did cover
One of the main reason iron overtook bronze was because it was simpler to make with more common resources
DAMN!! That was risky! But it proves they’re trapped.
Welp, he wasn’t bluffing :T
Leather armor DEF+1!
I think it’s bronze, like Jakub and Birdie were saying. I initially read it as leather, too, but a closer look at panels 2 and 4 shows that it’s more reflective than I’d expect from leather. Plus it’s actually dented in panel 4 where the bolt hit it.
It is known a long time that Polcans produce and use bronze weapons and armaments, as Rachel showed this long time ago in some of references into Comic. I just based on those informations.
I don’t suppose you brought enough breastplates to share with the class, did you, Rook?
Quando ci sarà la fine.
