The Abyssal Dunes: Page 14
Posting this again just to keep it close to the top! Leah Briere and I (Alex) will be at Rose City Comic Con next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Artist Alley Table KK-05!
Also, YURK HAS MADE FIRE! And you can tell because of that burn on Cain in that first panel, complete with suave dust-flicking. This ermehn may seem a bit air-headed sometimes, but he knows you never go into an abandoned city without packing some flint and steel.
I loooove the lighting here. Jerome has gone above and beyond the call of duty in his renditions of light and dark, adding entirely new techniques to his personal artistic repertoire to get the light of the flame just right and accurately portray how it bounces off some objects, is slightly absorbed by others, etc.
It’s really been impressive to see this all come together. And there’s a ton of awesome stuff to come!
Speaking of awesome stuff, you might recall that I worked on a little game called Armello that has a pretty hardcore Redwall and Western Deep vibe!
I’m happy to reveal that I wrote a brand new novella in the Armello universe based on the brand new DLC heroes that were just released: The Dragon Clan!
And if you want to check out the animated trailer for the Dragon Clan DLC featuring four of the characters featured in the novella, you can watch it right here:
TURTLE!!!!!!!
Armello TURTLE!!!!!
YESSSSSSSS!!!
Those Armello trailers are always crackerjack!
Why oh why do the studios make so many rubbery full cgi movies when they could be making films that look like this!?
I loved “The grinning blade”. I’m eager to read the new novella!
Is it just me, or is anyone else here really excited for all this side story stuff to be over and for chapter 4 to start?
Fear not, chapter 4 is being worked on! The reason we do these guest stories and explore new parts of the Western Deep world is to give Rachel both an adequate break from the rigorous page creation schedule (Rachel has a pretty demanding day job, so breaking this stuff up helps us avoid unnecessary hiccups with releases) AND enough time to work on all the various Western Deep projects we have going on at any given time. Not only chapter 4 in this case, but assets for the second book’s Kickstarter campaign!
I see. Welp, I’ll just sit tight and see what’s next.
