The Abyssal Dunes: Page 20
Some readers tried to pick out what exactly was sticking out of that vulpin skull that Yurk held up to demonstrate just how much he appreciates history. Fortunately, Cain is also right there with them in trying to identify what exactly that strange appendage is, exactly. He isn’t too thrilled by the implications, evidently.
And neither is Yurk, for that matter.
That’s the problem with these delves into the darkest, abandoned corners of the world. You’re going to find some weird stuff. Some gross stuff. Some dangerous stuff. And wow, Cain and Yurk are probably the least-qualified characters in our canon to be handling this stuff.
Which is why it’s so fun that they’re down there, of course!
For guest art this week, I wanted to share this wonderful little piece of Quinlan by Anders K. Sekanina that was shared with us on Twitter!
This piece was done for Inktober, and you can check it out along with other pieces by Anders on his Twitter account right here! Thank you so much for the wonderful art, Anders! We love how Quinlan looks in your style!
A claw? A tooth? Based on the sticky stuff covering the bones, I’m gonna guess giant spiders.
I remember the giant caterpillar beasts, probably something like that is down there.
No no, it’s fine, it was just the result of an accident with a drinking horn, that’s all!
Joking aside, I did initially suspect it was a claw, or perhaps a tusk or a horn. Then again, I do recall that an earlier page had a mural depicting a giant sandworm-like creature with curved mandibles… then again, that mural’s worm is much larger than the claw/tusk/horn/mandible would suggest.
Then again, this comic is not above introducing new big mean beasties in sidestories, so IDK. :P
