I guess all those parkour-inspired acrobatics helped after all! Though maybe they should try and conserve some oxygen by not screaming hysterically as they run?

Also, poor Cain slams his face right into the business end of a piece of solid granite. That can’t be good for your sinuses. You have to give the canid some credit though: he’s holding onto that torch like a champ.

Obviously since the page this week is mostly focused on the act of running (albeit in a very cool way), there isn’t a whole lot for me to comment on as a writer. Pages like these mostly exist for the artists to have fun, and Jerome (with Rachel on lettering) absolutely went to town on this one.

So, some news! First thing’s first:

We are now in the process of publishing all existing Western Deep pages on Webtoon for your perusal! We posted up the Prologue (complete with updated page flow and text from the printed version, soon to make its way to the website proper), and Chapter One will soon follow.

Webtoon has some fun benefits for us, like being able to post an entire chapter or sequence of pages together in a single flow, and it also helps us draw in some new readers who might otherwise be interested in the comic but have yet to discover it here! Please go check it out on Webtoon and leave us a positive review!

We’re also continuing our march toward the second Kickstarter! We’re going to be doing a countdown to it as we get closer to the launch date, but since you’re here now, have a fun piece of art that’s sneaking its way into the extras section:

Dakkan has opinions about canid music. This is for a section on (you guessed it) canid culture, which we explore a bit in the extras for Volume 2. We’re really excited to share more of the new material with you, along with some of the guest pieces we’ve been getting.

Volume 1 had artwork from three different artists: Mouse Guard creator David Petersen, The Tick and Runners artist Sean Wang, and of course Jerome Jacinto. For Volume 2, I’m proud to say that we tentatively have FOUR wonderful artists contributing their talents to the book. We’ll be sharing those along with their artwork as we get closer to launch!

Have a great weekend, everyone!
