Volume 3 PDFs Sent and Pre-Order Store Open!
Wow, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? We’re sorry about that–but rest assured we’ve been super busy behind the scenes!
Busy on what, exactly? Well, let’s dive in!
First and foremost, the title up there? Yeah–our preorder store for Volume 3 Kickstarter rewards is up and running through BackerKit! Did you miss the campaign outright? Or maybe you just want to add another reward to your existing pledge tier? Well, the preorder store is the place to do it.

In addition to the store going up, we’re also pleased to announce that the PDF version of Volume 3 has just been sent out to all backers. We know this one took a little while to do, and there’s a good reason for it! For Volumes 1 and 2, the pages were pretty much locked in aside from a few minor tweaks we wanted to clean up before sending the book off to print.
For Volume 3, Rachel had a pretty comprehensive list of things–mostly minor, but some a little bigger–that she definitely wanted to fix up before we immortalized the pages in print.
Here’s an example from the Tosch scene near the end of the volume:

And here’s the same series of panels AFTER the edits:
As you can see, we’re not exactly talking “Star Wars Special Edition” levels of changes here, more like adding some additional character to some backgrounds, adjusting some expressions, minor elements that we want to make sure result in the best possible version of Volume 3.
In other news, the Music of the Western Deep vinyls are close to being ready for shipment! They took FOREVER to get produced and we frankly had no idea they’d take this long, even in our worst-case scenario planning. We’re deeply appreciative for our backers’ patience as we work to get everything acquired and successfully shipped out.
And what of things on the War of the Western Deep front? Well, we’re continuing to show the game to publishers, financiers, and other groups in our ongoing quest to find a funding partner. We’re also considering how to work crowdfunding into the development process, so the community has more insight into the creative process. We’re not quite there yet, but we’re excited to move development forward any way we can.
As always, thank you all for your continued support! As work on Volume 3’s physical edition winds down, our plan is to focus on thumbnailing out the remainder of Chapter 4–to help keep us all on track as we move into what I can charitably describe as “the most complicated sequence we’ve ever produced” :)
We’re looking forward to it, and can’t wait to share more with you in the coming weeks!
